Peyton's Baptism

Peyton got baptized on Aug. 21, 2009. It was a really nice day. Shane baptized and confirmed him. Grandpa Kjar gave a talk on baptism about the 3 "bears". He did a great job! Afterwards we had everyone back to our house for subway sandwiches and a lot of yummy food! Peyton-we are so proud of the young man you are becoming. You are sweet, sensitive, loving, smart, caring, and an all around good boy! We can already see your budding testimony and hope you remember what a neat day your baptism was. We love you so much!!!
(just a funny side note: Peyton got baptised the same day as Savannah Smyly. We kept telling them to scoot closer to each other to get their pictures taken. They would NOT get close to each other-it was really cute and funny.)

Here are our family pictures we just had taken. I cannot wait to get the enlargements back!

Summer catch-up part 2

Just a quick catch-up of what we've been up to this past summer....I swear I will be caught up this week! One day I put Sadie in front of the TV to watch Baby Einstein while I got in the shower. She was not crawling yet, so I felt pretty safe putting her on the floor. As I was getting out of the shower I heard her wimper a bit like she was starting to cry, but I could tell she was still ok. So while I was hurrying to put some clothes on she stopped crying. When I got out to the family room, this is what I saw. She was in the middle splits ASLEEP! I felt so bad, but had to grab my camera quick! I still laugh when I look at this.

We went to see the 24th of July floats at the Sandy Expo
Little missy miss, just after her bath......what a sweetie!
Look at all that hair!
   Sadie loves bath time!
Peyton turned 8 this past August and is now in cub scouts-he loves it. I think he looks so handsome in his uniform!
Peyton got to go to cub scout day camp in July since he was only 2 weeks away from turning 8. Shane went up with him that day. Peyton loved it!

In July we went to Colorado to visit the Grapers (Shane's sister and her family). They were great hosts! We had  such a fun time with them. They have boys (Kole and Braydon) that are about the same age as Peyton and Connor. Kimi and I had a blast going shopping, to the pool, and just hanging out. I wish we lived closer! They took us (along with Sadie) to The White Chocolate Grill one night while we had a babysitter for the boys. It was soooooo good. I can't wait to go back!

This was at the Denver Children's Museum. Shane is so cute! I love him.
Connor playing "vet" at the Children's museum
Peyton and Kole studying an x-ray
Fireman Peyton
Taking a break on the big tire
Builders at work!
Look at those cute fireman. Peyton, Kole, Connor and Braydon

Look for installment #3 of summer coming soon!!!

Summer Catch-up Part I

Kjar Family Pictures-2009

We did some cute family pictures over the 4th of July this year. We took them ourselves and I think they turned out pretty cute!! A good camera makes a huge difference-thanks Kim!! I am hoping for a Cannon Rebel for Christmas. I think I am in love.

Cecret Lake

We took a hike with the Burke's in July up to Cecret Lake. It was not the greatest weather during our hike, but we were prepared with poncho's and raincoats. We took a picnic lunch up with us and had so much fun. The boys loved hiking with the Burke kids and didn't mind the rain at all. I was surprised that there was still some snow up there in July! Sadie loved riding in the backpack and fell asleep on the way down. She is such a sweetie! We had to cross a small stream a couple of times on the hike and we told the kids to be really careful and not fall in. Most of the time we carried them across. Guess who ended up with a soggy foot? ME! The water was freezing! We did have a really good time and are excited to find some other small hikes we can do together.

This one's about me

this one's about me

tagged by Shannon

What is your current obsession?

I should have one, but I feel like I can't concentrate on on thing for too long these days. I SHOULD be obsessed with painting the basement (Shane would love that), I SHOULD be obsessed with keeping the weeds down in the yard, I SHOULD be obsessed with getting photos in albums or something super productive, but alas, none of these ventures have caught my intrest. It seems that I have been spending my time cleaning the house, doing laundry, and spending time with the kids.

What do you hate the most that everybody else seems to love?

I don't know if I hate these, but just not for me: skinny jeans (too hippy), twitter (I just don't get it-can someone explain it to me), big earrings ( I love what I see on others, but big earrings and me just don't mix)

What are you wearing today?

Jean shorts from Ross, a purple see through t-shirt from Ross, a white shade underneath, my anniversary band and my toe ring from Kauai.

What's for dinner?

Left over spaghetti, green salad and garlic bread from last night.

What would you eat for your last meal?

Ummmmm-my mom's roast beef and mashed potatoes with gravy. Finish that off with 4 layer dessert or coconut cream pie and I am very happy. Why does something taste better if someone else makes it?

What's the last thing you bought?

Super exciting trip to Walmart: toothpaste, toothbrushes, deoderant, hairspray, soda, Green Giant create a meal in Teriyaki, soda, paper towels, wetones, cottonelle wipes (for the kids), painters tape, light bulbs, and ice.

What are you listening to right now?

Connor watching Freaky Friday

What do you think of the person that tagged you?

I haven't acutally met Shannon (gasp!) I found her blog from Kim (I think). Anyhow-I love reading about her cute family. She has a Payton and a Conner, but in opposite order of our Peyton and Connor. Kind of fun. Shannon is a great wife and mother. She is always doing crafts and fun things with her kids. I love her sense of style. I love that she makes life fun at her house. She has a testimony of Jesus Christ. She has great quotes on her blog...one that I love is Finding Joy in the Journey. Maybe someday we will meet, but right now, I am glad she lets me lurk on her blog because she inspires me to make my home a better place to be and be a better wife and mother. Oh-and she makes me smile! Thanks Shannon!

If you could have a house, fully paid for, and totally furnished anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Ohh-hard one! Let's see I would want it easy to get to, but if you had it paid for, maybe getting there wouldn't be so hard. If I HAD to choose, I would say Kauai. I just love it there. It's so peaceful and beautiful. I would want it near Poipu and defnitely right off the beach.

If you could go anywhere for the next hour, where would it be?

for a massage or pedicure-ah heaven.

What is one of your hobbies?

reading. I know kind of lame-o, but I really do love to read. I love to lay on the couch on lose myself in a good book. Another hobby-shopping with Kimi. That girl knows how to shop! She is one person that I can be myself with when I shop. She is honest (sometimes it's brutal-come on I know you love some of those outfits at Ross and TJ's), she really does have a good eye and is just fun to be around.

What are 3 things that annoy you most?

  1. when the house is a wreck after I spent all day cleaning it
  2. people that are ungrateful
  3. manipulation

What is your favorite color?

to wear: purple or pink or red

to decorate with: red, brown, steel blue

What is your favorite piece of clothing in your wardrobe?

for every day: jean shorts

for dressing up: my brown dress with teal flowers

What is your dream job?

getting paid to do what I do-I mean can I get 6 figures for this?

What are you going to do after this?

go to Target and try to find Peyton a tie for his baptisim, then take him to piano, then go to Pack meeting

What is your favorite fruit?

Peaches, strawberries, or pineapple

What inspires you?

great talks, a good sharing time in primary, good works, nice people, kindness in general.

Who was the last person you kissed?

Sadie. She is so yummy! I just love to kiss that girl. She is the BEST baby. What a good girl.

What delighted you most today?

So far-holding a cooing baby Carter. My friend and neighbor-Ashley dropped by with her 2 year old Presley and 2 month old Carter. Carter is 13 lbs and such a chunk! He just smiled and cooed when I talked to him-what a lover!

4th of July Bike Parade

Here are some cute pictures of our neighborhood's bike parade. It's a fun tradition that we do the week of the 4th. The kids decorate their bikes and then ride through the neighborhood waving to all the onlookers. Afterwards we meet in a cul-de-sac and have ice cream treats. It's a fun tradition that our kids love. We were a little ghetto this year on decorations, but they still had a lot of fun participating. This year we invited the Smiths and the Feveryears (my sisters) to join us. Aren't they cute??

Banff

The last week of June we had the opportunity to go to Banff, Canada. Shane has always wanted to go up to Banff. It is about 2 hours northwest of Calgary. It is in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains and is a National Park in Canada. We had to get passports because neither of us have traveled outside the US except for a cruise we did about 4 years ago and we were able to use our birth certificates. Well when we were applying for our passports, I mentioned it to a couple of friends and they would get excited for us and ask where we were going-ummm Canada! Yeah-it didn't sound too exciting to me, I would much rather say Paris, London, Germany, Italy or somewhere in the Caribbean, but sadly this time it was Canada. Well as it turns out, Canada is beautiful! We went up to Banff for a medical conference for Shane which was a bonus because his work paid for his hotel expenses and his flight. We had a great time hiking (I know right?), seeing many of the beautiful lakes and glaciers, staying in a beautiful old hotel that I found out later was rumored to be haunted, seeing wildlife-we saw moose, elk, a coyote which I yelled from the car "wolf, wolf!" I was the designated wildlife spotter on this particular drive. Shane about died. He couldn't believe our luck to find a wolf, ha! ha! Too funny, but the coyote was eating some sort of small animal. We were so close (but safe in our car) to hear the bones crunching! We also saw rocky mountain sheep. They were so amazing and agile. They were able to go straight up steep rocky inclines. It was amazing. The one animal we did not see that would have been cool was a bear. We hear rumors of bear sightings, but we never personally saw one. To be honest I was a little freaked out.  Here are some of the beautiful pictures we took:

Lake Louise (the white that is at the top of the picture is mostly a glacier, but in the picture it looks like clouds-cool huh?)
              Lake Louise
The Fairmont Baniff Springs- our "Haunted" hotel

Shane looking at the Bow Falls which were directly below our hotel
  Us at the Bow Falls
Us at Emerald Lake-we did a hike around this lake that was about 3 miles, it was so pretty
Us at Moraine Lake-this was my favorite lake because of the color of the lake and the backdrop-so unbelievable. It was so pretty that there was a bride there that day in strapless wedding dress getting her bridals done. Talk about cold!
Rochelle at Moraine Lake
Shane at Moraine Lake-check out the view!
Lake Louise-this was at the opposite end of the lake looking back at the "Chauteau"

Ok-enough for now, but I have a lot of other pictures to post about this trip.
